Lord ByronBorn on January 22, 1788, was an English poet and a leading figure in the Romantic movement. Among Byron's best-known works are the lengthy narrative poems Don Juan and Childe Harold's Pilgrimage and the short lyric She Walks in Beauty. He is regarded as one of the greatest British poets and remains widely read and influential. He died on April 19, 1824.

ModernBilly CollinsBorn on March 22, 1941 is an American poet, appointed as Poet Laureate of the United States from 2001 to 2003. He is a Distinguished Professor at Lehman College of the City University of New York and is the Senior Distinguished Fellow of the Winter Park Institute, Florida. Collins was recognized as a Literary Lion of the New York Public Library (1992) and selected as the New York State Poet for 2004 through 2006. He is currently a teacher in the MFA program at Stony Brook Southampton. He is still alive.
Marilyn HackerBorn November 27, 1942) is an American poet, translator and critic. She is Professor of English at the City College of New York. Her books of poetry include Presentation Piece (1974), which won the National Book Award,[1] Love, Death, and the Changing of the Seasons (1986), and Going Back to the River (1990). In 2009, Hacker won the PEN Award for Poetry in Translation for King of a Hundred Horsemen by Marie Étienne,[2] which also garnered the first Robert Fagles Translation Prize from the National Poetry Series. In 2010, she received the PEN/Voelcker Award for Poetry.[3] She was shortlisted for the 2013 PEN Award for Poetry in Translation[4] for her translation of Tales of A Severed Head by Rachida Madani. She is still alive.
